1. Agreement to Terms
By using Duelist Social (the “Services”), you’re agreeing to these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you don’t agree, please don’t use our Services.
These Terms apply to everyone who uses our Services, whether you’re browsing, have an account, or compete in events we list.
2. Description of Services
Duelist Social is a fan-made resource for competitive trading card game players: decklists, tournament results, format information, rulings references, forums, and player profiles. What we offer may change over time as we ship new things.
3. Accounts
You need an account for some features (posting, chat, publishing decklists). Keep your login credentials to yourself, give us accurate information, and don’t impersonate other people. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
4. Community Conduct
Our forums and chat are moderated, partly by automated tools. The short version:
- Hate speech and slurs are not tolerated — a first offense earns a 14-day ban, a second is permanent.
- Sexually explicit content is prohibited everywhere — posts, replies, messages, profiles, avatars, and decklist names.
- Harmful content is prohibited: threats or glorification of violence, self-harm content, content that sexualizes or endangers minors, and doxxing or sharing someone’s private information.
- Harassment, threats, and impersonation of other players will get your account suspended or removed.
- Profanity may be automatically filtered depending on each reader’s settings.
- Use the report tools; don’t retaliate in-thread.
Moderation decisions are made at our discretion. We’d rather warn than ban, but we will protect the community first.
5. Use of Our Services
You can use our Services for any lawful purpose, as long as you follow these Terms. Please don’t:
- Use our Services for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive
- Try to break into our systems, networks, or data
- Scrape, crawl, or pull data from our Services with automated tools unless you have our written permission
- Pretend to be someone you’re not while using our Services
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify any part of our Services
If you break these Terms, we may suspend or cut off your access.
6. Intellectual Property
Our site design, logo, code, and original text belong to Duelist Social and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Don’t copy, distribute, or make derivative works from our content without written permission.
Game content is not ours. Card images, card names, card text, and game trademarks belong to their respective owners — Yu-Gi-Oh! to Konami Holdings Corporation, Magic: The Gathering to Wizards of the Coast, Pokémon to The Pokémon Company, and Riftbound to Riot Games. Duelist Social is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them. We display game content for identification, commentary, and community purposes, and we respond promptly to takedown requests from rights holders.
7. User Content
Content you submit — decklists, forum posts, messages, profile images — is still yours. By posting it, you give us a license to host, display, and distribute it as part of operating the Services. You’re responsible for making sure anything you submit doesn’t infringe on someone else’s rights or break any laws. We may remove content that violates these Terms.
8. Rulings and Accuracy
Our format rulings are compiled from community archives (with attribution) and historical sources. We work hard to keep them era-accurate, but we can’t guarantee completeness or correctness, and nothing on this site overrides a head judge’s ruling at an actual event. Card prices, event listings, and tournament data may lag their sources.
9. Third-Party Services
We link to and integrate with third-party services — marketplaces like TCGplayer (some links are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission on purchases), tournament platforms like topdeck.gg, and embedded video from YouTube. We don’t control those services and aren’t responsible for their content, privacy practices, or uptime. When you use them, their terms apply.
10. Business Accounts and Merchandise
Business accounts ($10/month, includes Premium) identify an accountable entity behind commercial activity: they add a website link on the profile and image posts on the feed. Linking or promoting merchandise anywhere on the platform requires a business account— commercial posts from personal accounts may be removed. Business content must follow the same standards as everything else (Section 4), and you’re responsible for the products and claims you promote.
12. Paid Features
If we offer paid features, pricing and terms will be shown clearly before you pay. Payments are handled by third-party processors; we don’t store your card details. You can cancel a subscription at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period.
12. No Warranty
Our Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do our best, but we can’t guarantee that everything will work perfectly all the time, that all content will be accurate, complete, or current, or that our Services will meet your specific needs. To the fullest extent the law allows, Duelist Archive disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, Duelist Social, its owner, and service providers won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost data, lost profits, or missed opportunities that come from using (or not being able to use) our Services.
If you have a claim against us under these Terms, our total liability won’t exceed whatever you paid Duelist Social in the 12 months before the claim, or $100, whichever is more.
14. Indemnification
If your use of our Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of someone else’s rights results in a claim against us, you agree to cover Duelist Social for any damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) that come from it.
15. Updates and Modifications
We may update, change, or shut down any of our Services at any time. We may also update these Terms when our practices or the law change. If we make meaningful changes, we’ll update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. If you keep using our Services after we update these Terms, that counts as accepting the new version.
16. Termination
We can suspend or end your access to our Services at any time if you violate these Terms or do something harmful to our Services or other users. After termination, the sections that should logically survive (intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution) stay in effect.
17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any disputes will be handled exclusively in the state or federal courts in Cook County, Illinois. By using our Services, you agree to the jurisdiction of those courts.
Before going to court, we ask that you reach out to us first so we can try to sort things out. We’ll make a good-faith effort to resolve the issue within 30 days.
18. Severability
If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, that part gets enforced as much as the law allows and the rest stays in place.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms make up the full agreement between you and Duelist Social for your use of our Services. They replace any previous agreements or conversations about the same subject.
20. Accessibility
We want our Services to be usable by everyone. If you run into any accessibility issues, please let us know and we’ll do our best to fix them.
