Card effect (current official text)During your opponent's turn, when your opponent activates a Spell Card (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.
Rulings
- This monster’s effect is multi-trigger, and therefore Spell Speed 2. So it may be used against Quick-Play Spell Cards.
- You can Tribute Maryokutai to activate its effect during the Battle Phase if it is not attacking or being attacked.
- Q: Can "Maryokutai" be legally activated to counter a card used during the Damage Step to increase or decrease the ATK/DEF of a monster? A: This is legal during the Damage Step. 01/08/04The payment of 1000 LP is optional and the controller of Mask of Brutality, not the controller of the equipped monster, chooses to pay or not. If you choose not to pay 1000 LP, Mask of Brutality is destroyed.
