And if you do" effects are simultaneous. "Then" effects are sequential. Simultaneous effects do not cause cards to miss their timing. Sequential effects can cause cards to miss their timing.

  • If "Geartown" is destroyed, and no Field Spell is searched, you CAN activate Geartown's effect.
